For sale: 1992 Toyota Levin GT-APEX

The best car I've ever owned is looking for has found a loving new home.

  • Single owner (me!) since it arrived in Canada from Japan in 2008
  • Lovingly enjoyed and maintained to last (see below)
  • Lack of time/space means it's ready to continue its journey with a new owner (you!)

What works well:

  • In running condition.
  • Continuously licensed/insured since 2008.
  • Always run on synthetic oil and 91+ octane.
  • Engine revs happily to 7800rpm.
  • Still handles great.
  • Also includes winter tires on 14" rims.
  • Alpine audio system with 10" sub.
  • Recently changed alternator, battery, front discs...
  • Clean interior, comfy seats.
  • No rust perforation (rustproofed 2008-2012).

What needs work:

  • ECUs (3 included) are tempermental, may run in limp mode (despite all capacitors being changed).
  • Windshield cracked.
  • Driver window stuck up (needs cable rewind).
  • Passenger window stuck up (since I bought it).
  • Coolant leaked this summer (likely broken hose).
  • A/C stopped working (needs at least a refill).
  • Paint needs some love if aesthetics matter to you.
  • Timing belt last changed at ~103k...
  • Due for an oil change.

In summary:

This is a very rare car. Few were imported to Canada during the window of opportunity for JDMs, and I've never seen another one in person. Being FWD and normally aspirated, it wasn't as popular as the other JDMs being imported at the time, but that did allow me to operate it as my primary vehicle for 13 years—and to have a blast driving it year-round in any weather! With a bit of love and care, it can continue to deliver enjoyment for years to come (it's a Corolla!), putting a smile on your face every time you wind it up to almost 8000rpm and listen to that sweet 20V sound!
